Dr. Galen E. Ericson, DVM
Dr. Galen Ericson received his DVM from Kansas
State University and is the owner of Ericson Veterinary
Hospital. He served three years as a captain in
the United States Air Force on Elmendorf Air Force
Base in Anchorage, Alaska before entering private
practice.
After 31 years in the profession, Dr. Ericson
states that he "enjoys his work more today
than when he began." He is committed to the
practice of progressive veterinary medicine and
believes that pets and owners appreciate the advancements
in diagnosis, surgery and pain management. He
feels most accomplished as a veterinarian when
his clients thank him for his pet care. Dr. Ericson believes in providing continuing
education for all members of his veterinary team. "The rewards are so much greater than the
costs when it comes to training your staff. Training
not only raises the quality of service offered
and performed by the staff, it instills a teamwork
mind-set, as well," states Dr. Ericson. Dr. Ericson is quite active in the local veterinary
community. He is a member of the American Veterinary
Medical Association, the Missouri Veterinary Medical
Association, the Kansas City Veterinary Medical
Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Dr. Ericson also serves as a veterinary industry
opinion leader.
When he is out of the office, Dr. Ericson enjoys
flying, skiing, and "anything that he can
do with his family.
Dr. Stacy Messner, DVM
Dr. Stacy Messner graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a BS (Animal Science) degree in 1984 and his DVM in 1987. Before joining the team at Ericson Veterinary Hospital in 1991 he worked at Claycomo Animal Hospital . He enjoys developing relationships with clients and providing quality medical and surgical care.
Dr. Messner and his family are active in the community. His wife Jennifer is a real estate agent with ReMax professionals in Blue Springs . His four sons Grant, Carson, Carter, and Colton keep busy with youth sports. Dr. Messner is also very involved with coaching youth baseball. When not on the baseball diamond, he enjoys physical fitness and cooking, especially barbeque! The family pets include Rusty, a long-haired miniature Dachshund, and Blackjack, a black cat that they took in as an orphan kitten.
Dr. Lisa Fleischmann, DVM
Dr. Fleischmann is a native of Blue Springs , graduating from Blue Springs High School before heading to the University of Missouri-Columbia . She graduated Cum Laude from the College of Agriculture (BS Animal Science) and Summa Cum Laude from the College of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1992. Except for a two year stint in veterinary industry conducting clinical trials, she has been with Ericson Veterinary Hospital , both full and part-time.
"I most enjoy the communicating and educating part of my job," states Dr. Fleischmann. "There is so much information, and so many choices, available to pet owners today. I like to give families the information and provide the services they need to have a healthy, well-adjusted pet."
Dr. Fleischmann is currently part-time. She also works part-time as a technical editor for a veterinary journal, which helps keep her current on all the newest information. Her other days are spent at home with her two daughters and a "small herd" of pets. When a free moment occurs, she enjoys organic gardening, riding horses, doing anything outdoors, and a good book.
