Dr. Michael Groh offers veterinary dermatology services to patients in Blue Springs and surrounding Kansas City areas.
Dr. Michael Groh received his Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1972 from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. As a captain in the USAF, he served 2 years as Chief of Veterinary Services at Carwell Air Force base in Ft. Worth, TX. Upon his return, he was co-owner of Blue Springs Animal Clinic, which became Blue Springs Animal Hospital 12 years later, when he sold to Dr. Jerry Carey. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Dr. Groh founded Midwest Veterinary Consultants, which was the start of his dermatology and allergy practice, and which continues today with offices in Springfield and Lee’s Summit. His clinical research interests are food allergy, diseases of the ear, and infectious disease control. In 1991 Dr. Groh began developing a new antibiotic combination which would become Baytril Otic. He was granted a patent for that invention in 1998. He also developed the first clinically successful hydrolyzed diet for the diagnosis and control of canine food allergy.
Dr. Groh is a past president of the Academy of Veterinary Allergy and Clinical Immunology and is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Groh re-joined Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort in June of 2010 as a dermatology consultant (and it feels like coming home). Dr. Groh is a lifelong area resident and presently resides in Raymore, MO with his wife, Shari, and their three pugs—Meat(head), Ivy, and Vince. He has three grown children—Sam, Joe, and Becki—all living in the area, and three gorgeous grandchildren—Joe, Lochlyn, and Hunter. He enjoys golf and a little invention known as the zero-turn radius lawn tractor. Now I ask you, does life get any better?

We have gone from vet to vet to vet to ER vet in the last 3 months. We have been told our dogs have allergies time and time again. They have been on steroids and antibiotics for 3 months. I have 3 dogs with this issue and everyone saids it's uncommon for that but no one could find the problem. I saw the dermatologist Dr Groh today, who made a special trip for my dogs to be seen. He was very caring and knew what he was talking about. He had a diagnosis in about 5 minutes just talking to us about what we have gone through. He had a full diagnosis and medicine ready to go in less than 30 minutes. He was absolutely fantastic as is Dr Cook who we have recently switched to as our normal vet. Blue springs animal hospital is just fantastic and I highly recommend.
This is the very best Animal Hospital I have had the pleasure of taking my beloved shitzu, Rossy. They make you feel like family and treat your precious possession as if it were their very own! They have such compassion and love for animals! It is clean, spacious and lovely! They are extremely knowledgeable and do their very best, which is perfect, in diagnosing your pet. They take the time to find the exact medicine to heal whatever may be wrong. No pet dermatologist could analyze what was wrong until Dr. Groh took his time to pin point exactly what it was. Our little shitzu is healing quickly, thanks to Dr. Groh and his intelligent staff! ??
Our dog was very sick and Dr. Groh and his staff were wonderful with him! Dr. Groh is a Dermatologist for animals and he does AMAZING WORK! Dr. Groh went ABOVE AND BEYOND to treat our precious dog and kept us informed all the way through! He is AMAZING!!!! He really listens to you and he WILL have a PLAN OF ACTION AND THEN EXECUTE THAT PLAN!!!! I truly can't say enough about how special he is, and his staff is AMAZING AS WELL!!! I don't live in Blue Springs, but I'm happy to drive there for the EXCELLENT CARE that is provided! The Veterinarians in my area are sub-par and I'll NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!! We also see Dr. Cook and she is AMAZING with our new puppy, DUKE!?? IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VETERINARIAN, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN BLUE SPRINGS ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND PET RESORT, YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY AND YOUR PET WILL THRIVE!!!!!
I was impressed with their customer service from the initial call to make an appointment. I talked with Susie who was extremely caring and genuinely concerned with my dog’s medical needs. She quickly scheduled me with Dr Groh. Dr Groh called me with a diagnosis and listened to all of my concerns. I could immediately tell that he is truly an expert in the field of dermatology. My experience at this animal hospital was pleasant and even though I live pretty far, I am going to start taking my other animals to get that stellar level of care.
I am so so grateful to Dr. Groh. My dog Ringo is 10 and has suffered from skin issues most of his life and I would get him better for awhile just for things to backslide again. Dr. Groh has him looking better than has in so so long and he just has more energy and seems happier overall. I wish I had come here sooner.
Dr. Groh is amazing!! My original vet said my puppy had food allergies and we had went through a handful of diet changes without any improvement before I started calling around for a specialist. The front desk ladies here are extremely pleasant and helpful. At the initial consultation with Dr. Groh he immediately said he didn’t think it was food allergies and explained what he thought it was. We started treatment and Dr. Groh even asked that I followed up with him every couple of days for progress reports. He also has a lab at his house and followed up with me on a Saturday to let me know results. You can tell they really care and listen to all my concerns (small or big) and offer information about EVERY THING I bring up. So thankful we found Dr. Groh as my pupper is finally improving. We are making Blue Springs Animal Hospital our primary vet as well.
My Sheltie has had an unknown skin condition for over two years. Two other veterinarians were unable to figure out the cause of the rash. Dr. Groh, a Veterinary Dermatologist, was able to solve the riddle in just 20 minutes. Both Dr. Groh and Breann were informative, professional, and went out of their way to keep me informed on my dog’s treatment plan. I’m thankful I found Dr. Groh.
Dr. Groh with BSAH was amazing! I took my American Bully in for a "rash" - (later determined to be staff) that another vet could not find a cure for. He gave me the spray (that he actually invented, and will hit the market soon, SAY WHATTT? #Talented), the rash has already died down and has no "active" features after three spray downs, now to let the irritation die down. Thanks so much for finding a cure to heal my fur baby!!!! - King & Pearl too.
What a wonderful facility for animals, especially if you have a complicated problem. My dog Rocket had suffered from multiple allergies for years and until we went to see Dr. Groh at this hospital he suffered a lot with allergies that I had no idea about. Everybody at this facility could not have treated Rocket better. It was a long road and finally we have the care and medicine Rocket needed so badly. He is so much better and I just wanted to say thank you to all of you, especially Dr. Groh, and all the staff at Blue Springs.
Dr. Groh was absolutely the most helpful care provider I have ever experienced with my dog. I have spent years and countless thousands of dollars trying to provide relief for my dog from unexplained itching and pain, and I finally feel like we have received real answers and relief! I am so thankful for the care we have recipients here and will be coming here exclusively from now on. Absolutely amazing! Thank you guys so much!
My dogs love Blue Springs Animal Hospital! Especially my bull mastiff. Recently they added a dermatologist (Dr Groh), he cured the skin & ear problems he's had for most of his life, what a relief! We love all the other doctors & staff too, everyone is nice & knowledgeable. Plus they're an all in one package, not only are they a high-tech hospital, with great doctors, they have a wonderful boarding facility, with doggie daycare, and a, what looks to be a trendy pet salon, although I don't have a dog that needs to be groomed, I have seen some awful CUTE doggies coming out of there! We give them 4 paws & 2 thumbs up! :-)
Everyone was very friendly. The wait time was short. Dr. Groh was extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain in detail everything going on with our shitzu. He was very personable and has a love for animals. His assistant was just as friendly and very intelligent. The hospital was very clean and nice. I will definitely make this establishment our Shitzu’s place of care.
